What you can solve

One solver for the whole curriculum, from middle school through first-year university. Type the problem the way it appears in your book.

Algebra

Linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, systems of equations, factoring, rational expressions, exponents, radicals and logarithms, functions and graphs.

Calculus

Limits, derivatives with the chain, product and quotient rules, implicit differentiation, definite and indefinite integrals, series, related rates and optimization.

Trigonometry

Unit-circle values, identities, trig equations, right-triangle problems, the laws of sines and cosines, and conversions between degrees and radians.

Statistics & probability

Mean, median, mode, variance and standard deviation, z-scores, permutations and combinations, expected value, and binomial and normal probabilities.

Word problems

Rate, distance and time, mixtures, percent change, simple and compound interest, work problems and geometry set-ups. The solver writes the equation before solving it.

Arithmetic, geometry & linear algebra

Fractions, decimals and percentages, order of operations, area and volume, the Pythagorean theorem, vectors, matrices and determinants.

How it works

01

Type it or snap it

Enter the problem in plain text, use the symbol bar for roots, powers and integrals, or upload a photo of the page.

02

The AI solves and checks

The solver works the problem the way a teacher would, names the rule at each step, then checks its own answer.

03

Read every step

Follow the numbered steps, copy the solution, and rate it. Your last ten solutions stay on your device.

A math solver that teaches, free

Most step-by-step math solvers show the final answer and then lock the steps behind a subscription. SolveMath AI shows every step free: the rule used, the expression it produces, and a boxed answer with a check at the end. There is no account to create and nothing to install.

It works in symbols, not just numbers. A calculator can evaluate 15% of 240; a solver can also explain why the quadratic formula gives two roots, set up the equation for a word problem, or take the derivative of a product. Ask for a specific method, such as completing the square or integration by parts, and it will use that method.

Questions

Is SolveMath AI really free?

Yes. There is no account, no trial and no card. Live AI solving is free in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, Japan and other supported regions, and every solved problem is open to everyone.

Do I need an account?

No. Nothing here needs a sign-in. Your last ten solutions are kept on your own device so you can reopen them. If accounts are added later they will be for keeping and exporting a longer history, never for unlocking the steps.

Does it show the steps?

Every solution is a numbered list of steps. Each one names the rule it uses, such as subtracting from both sides or applying the power rule, and shows the resulting expression. The final answer is boxed with a quick check.

Can I upload a photo of a math problem?

Yes. Tap Photo, choose or take a picture, and the solver transcribes the problem before solving it. Printed problems work best. Keep handwriting clear and one problem per photo, and add a note in the text box if the picture needs context.

How accurate is it?

It is strong on standard middle-school, high-school and university problems, and it checks its own answer. Still verify anything that matters. If a step is wrong, use the thumbs-down on the solution so it can be reviewed.

What kinds of math can it solve?

Arithmetic, fractions and percentages, algebra, linear and quadratic equations, systems, inequalities, functions, exponents and logarithms, trigonometry, limits, derivatives, integrals, sequences and series, probability and statistics, geometry, vectors, matrices and word problems.

Do you store my problems?

Typed problems and their solutions are cached anonymously so repeats load instantly for the next person; nothing in the cache says who asked. Photos are used for the solve and are not kept. Your own history lives only in your browser. The details are on the privacy page.

Can I use it for homework?

Use it to learn: check your work, understand a step you missed, or see a second method. Follow your school’s rules on outside help, and never hand in a solution you cannot explain.

How is this different from a calculator?

A calculator computes with numbers you have already arranged. A solver reads the whole problem, chooses a method, shows the algebra in symbols and explains each move. It also handles word problems, identities and calculus, which calculators cannot.
